About living at Hakusan House
What are the front desk service hours?
・8:00-19:00 full service by main staff
・19:00-22:00 limited service by Residence Assistants
・22:00-8:00 close, but security guard on site
Is there a curfew?
There's no curfew, but please inform us if you'll be away more than 1 week so we don't worry.
Are the share apartments gender specific?
Yes. The floors are mixed but not the apartments.
Can couples or siblings of different genders share a 2-person apartment?
Unfortunately not.
Can family and friends stay the night?
1-person apartment:
You can have one guest of any gender for up to 2 consecutive nights.

2-person apartment:
ou can have one guest of the same gender for up to 2 consecutive nights. Your roommate will need to agree in advance.

6-person apartment:
Sorry, you can't have overnight guests.
Can I choose whether I want an upper or lower bed in the share apartments?
Let us know your preference when you apply, and we will do our best to accommodate. Please note that your first choice may not be available due to limited availability.
How big is the bed?
Mattress: width 100 cm x length 195 cm
What do I need to bring with me?
Just the daily essentials (towels, toilet paper, toiletries, condiments etc.)
We have your furniture, appliances, kitchen utensils, bedding, hair dryers and cleaning kits covered.
Do the rooms have a safety box or locker?
There's a lockable desk drawer in every room as well as a small locker in the common space for each resident.
We also store up to two pieces of luggage free of charge for Share Nest residents.
Are there cleaners?
We have cleaners 365 days a year.
They cleans the floors and surfaces in the common spaces as well as the showers and toilets in the Share Nests twice a week.
There are also cleaning kits provided on each floor so that residents can keep the kitchens and their own rooms clean and tidy!
How about the security?
Our building is accessible strictly by key card, which includes the front entrance, elevators, corridors and all rooms.
We also have CCTV throughout the building and an overnight security guard.
Is it possible to swap rooms after checking in?
Yes, though there is a Room Swap fee and the rent fee may vary depending on the new room type.
Room swaps will also depend on availability.
Contracts and payments
Are there any requirements to live here?
・All nationalities welcome
・Aged between 18 and 34 years of age at check in
・Students on overseas exchange or studying at university, vocational college, or Japanese language schools
*Proof of student status (student card, letter of admittance) will be requested.
Are short term contracts available?
Yes.
We offer flexible contracts from 5 weeks and up, meaning we can fit around your overseas study schedule.
How do I pay my rent?
You can pay via credit card online (VISA, Mastercard only) or bank transfer.
*Please note: Cash is not accepted.
When is my rent due?
You'll pay in 4-week installments every 4 weeks.
The payment date changes with each month, but the staff will always remind you in advance so no need to worry.
However, for those with contracts shorter than 12 weeks, we will ask for lump sum payment up front.

How do I book a tour?
Please use the online form at the top of this page.
Is there an alternative to viewing in person?
Yes, we offer video tours via Skype and Facetime.
Please just let us know this preference on the Enquiry Form.
How long are the tours?
Usually around 15 to 30 minutes, but we're happy to work around your schedule.
Can I book without doing a tour?
Yes, of course, though we do recommend taking a look around first to get a feel for the place.
What should I do if I need to cancel or change the time of my tour?
Please just get in touch by phone or email.
